Yours truly suggests that London's poor people, the people typically displaced from their homes by this sort of event and the concurrent post-event gentrification have a long talk with the soldiers while they're back in the homeland about who the REAL enemy is.
In other Olympic news, Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran is implying he has been refused a visa; "the host has a problem with this," to attend the games with the country's team.

Four men wearing Afghan police uniforms stormed the governor's compound in the western province of Farah on Thursday, killing at least seven people and wounding 12 others when two of the attackers detonated their suicide vests (AFP, NYT, CNN, AJE, BBC, AP). The two other attackers were shot and killed by police at the compound, while the governor and his deputy were unharmed. [In Full (with links)]
